The goal of the Growald Family Fund is to create a vibrant, healthy, and balanced world in which all species thrive.
Climate change is the most critical issue facing humanity today.
Climate change is the most critical issue facing humanity today. As philanthropists, we care about a range of issues from human health to children’s wellbeing to biodviersity to sustainable agriculture. However, climate change poses the greatest risk to all the issues we care about. Climate change isn’t just changing weather patterns. It will touch every aspect of life, presenting humanitarian, environmental, and economic challenges. But it is not too late – with daring solutions, innovative approaches, bold vision and coordinated action, we can avoid the worst impacts of climate change. At the same time, we can also clean our air and water, improving the health and well being of communities and ecosystems around the world. The shift to clean energy is a tremendous opportunity to work towards sustainable and equitable development. We are dedicating our resources and our passion into moving away from the threat and towards the opportunity.
"We are not faced with two separate crises, one environmental and the other social, but rather one complex crisis which is both social and environmental."
Pope Francis
We identify concrete pathways to impact climate change and invest in the strongest levers for change.
National Campaigns
Change happens on the ground, and we support efforts in key countries to transition to clean energy.
The same fuels that contribute to climate change also pollute our air and water. We look for opportunities to support a shift to healthy energy choices – improving health and ecosystems, while also protecting the climate.
Financial Flows
To achieve a rapid transformation to clean energy, we support efforts that create enabling policies and allow the market to shift investments in line with climate reality.
"Quite frankly, there is no answer to climate change without substantially, dramatically, increasing the amount of renewable energy in the global energy system."
Christiana Figueres
To address climate change, we need a rapid transformation of our electricity system.
The science is clear. If we do not act collectively to curb global carbon emissions in the next decade, we face irreversible damages and the worst impacts of climate change. The good news is that transformation of our electricity system from high carbon fuels like coal to clean and renewable energy is absolutely possible and already underway. Our work, along with our partners and peers, is already bending the trajectory to a more sustainable future. There is much more work to be done, but the success to date proves that change is possible – we can move to a clean energy future. We must act boldly, decisively, and with a greater sense of urgency.
We work with innovative partners positioned to have an outsized impact in transforming the energy landscape.
